Real Madrid are reportedly set to demand around £175m for the world best player Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
The former Manchester United forward is said to want to leave the Spanish capital after accusations of tax fraud, and speculation has immediately turned to an Old Trafford return where he was before moving down to Spanish Giant Madrid.
Reports from, The Sunday Times claims that United are exploring the possibility of a deal for their former player but crucially, the pursuit will get the green light from Mourinho.
United are one of the few European clubs who could afford the Portuguese’s wages and he has a soft spot for the club where his career took off.
But according to Spanish outlet Marca, Madrid will demand a bumper fee of €200m (£175m) to sign the superstar, who just led the La Liga club to a third European Cup win since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2009.
Ronaldo has a €1billion release clause in his contract, but the report claims that Real Madrid would listen to offers for a fifth of that price.
The 32-year-old’s deal in Madrid runs until 2021.
